I have a wall mounted plasma and want to add surround sound. Can anyone recommend speakers, front pair and centre either long and slim to complement the screen or miniature like Bose. (Not considering Bose after reading this forum). Rears to be small but not necessarily miniature.
Don’t go for wireless speakers.
It depends on your budget.
If money is no object, then you could go for something like the Mordaunt Short Genie system. Without a doubt, the Mordaunt Short Genie system has been one of the best reviewed and most highly praised speaker packs of recent times. Take a look for yourself and it’s not hard to see why. Unlike its boxy rivals, the satellite speakers with the Genie surround sound system are sculptured from aluminium. The design is further enhanced by a built-in stand that also doubles as a wall mounting bracket for the individual speakers. With an excellent reputation for their subwoofers, you’d expect the packaged sub’ to be something special; and you’d be right. Bass is deep yet controlled, and thanks to phase and frequency controls, blends seamlessly with the satellite speakers.
For less than £100, Eltax do a great five-speaker set, with mini speakers for the front three and really good looking slim floorstanders. But you would probably still need to get a woofer/sub-woofer.
You can even get a full set of 5.1 surround sound speakers for less than a tenner! The AS100 is a silver-finished slimline set and even has an active sub-woofer. And it’s available at the ridiculously cheap price of £9.99!
