I have tried two different USB Flash drives. They are recognized initially, followed by an error message, and then they disappear from the desktop. Thank you.
It actually sounds like a bad connection – If the mac is seeing it, then throwing up an error, try holding the USB connector in by hand until it mounts then see what happens.
