i have a fatman i tube amplifier with fab speakers connected, its great for using as an i dock, but i would like to connect my laptop and eventually a turntable, at the moment i am looking for advice on the cable i require to make the connection from laptop to i tube. But if anyone has advice on connecting a turntable then that would be great, i am aware i would need a phono stage, but don’t really know a lot about them. thank you
From what I understand, the i tubes have pairs of RCA jacks on the back for aux. stereo inputs.
Your laptop probably has a stereo 3.5 mm jack for an aux. speaker / headphone output, so you would need a stereo 3.5 mm plug to dual RCA plugs cable like this…

A turntable with a built in preamp could plug straight into the RCA jacks. Using a separate phono preamp would just require a simple RCA interconnect with RCA plugs at both ends. One may or may not come with the phono stage…

As far as a turntable goes, I would recommend the Audio Technica direct-drive that comes with a decent cartridge with an elliptical stylus. It also has a built-in phono preamp. You could upgrade the cartridge and switchable phono preamp to a nice separate one over time if you wanted to. The table is worthy of upgrades. This table will outperform many of the lower-end “budget audiophile” belt-drive turntables being sold for more. Spending less really wouldn’t get you anything worthwhile. CDs sound better than LPs played on a cheap table with a cheap cartridge and conical stylus. These cheap tables have become a fad and are really a poor investment since a less expensive CD player sounds better.
