I have a Yamaha stereo receiver that has a switch for either 4 or 8ohm speakers and I was wondering if I could hook up a pair of 6ohm speakers to it? If so, which setting do I go with– 4 or 8ohm?
Yes but I’d use the 4 Ohm setting. The 6 Ohm rating is a nominal rating. At some frequencies the impedance will drop lower. 4 Ohms will be safer for the receiver.
