I heard the other day that if I was to buy a tv that I shouldn’t go with a projection screen because the projector would burn an image into the lens. Is this true?
This used to be true of static images like computer displays on CRT projectors.
This is no longer an issue with modern DLP and LCD projectors. It is certainly possible to burn, not the lens, but the picture-producing element, but you would have to leave one image on the screen for a LOOOONG time to do it today.
Most modern projectors are quite reliable. Their biggest failure component is the lamp assembly, so, if you decide to buy one, be sure to price a replacement lamp and check the expected lamp life for the unit.
