I have a DC lighter socket in my boot space and all I want to power is 200w RMS of power. The speakers require 100w RMS each. There are already stock speakers in the rear parcel shelf so I can use that for signal as the amp has speaker level inputs. Or would I need to run 4-8awg wire from the front to back? The amplifier is rated at 2 x 100w RMS @ 4 ohms. Thanks.
The maximum power output from a cigarette lighter socket is 120W/10A. You would need to run 10AWG or higher wire to run the amp. Proper fusing is also best. So to answer the question is yes its possible but its definitely not recommended due to ratings set by most manufacturers.
