what do you use? what works the best? my toes always really hurt after ballet (and i know they’re supposed to a little bit) so what should i use? i’ve only been on pointe for 3 months, and all i use right now are those gel ouch pouches that cover all of your toes and the balls of your feet.
It is very important not to use TOO much padding, because having too much “bulk” can also cause pain. Also, make sure that you have the correct pointe shoes for your feet by getting them fitted by a professional at a dance store.
I would recommend using the Propad Ouch Pouches made by Bunheads. They don’t have much bulk, but still work wonders. You can buy many different types of Ouch Pouches at:

I would also recommend using this toe tape, especially on your first and second toes, which take most of your weight. This green toe tape (near the bottom of the page) works very well, and is very cheap when you buy it in larger quantities. When you buy it at a dance store, it tends to be overpriced.

You can also use a bit of lambswool in your pointe shoes where it hurts, but again, don’t use too much.
Lastly, make sure that you are cutting your toe nails! 
When you cut them, try to cut them straight across, but slightly round the edges, so the nail won’t cut into your other toes. For a long time, I cut my toenails incorrectly, and I had a lot of pain going en pointe.
