I have about a grand to spend on entertainment, and want to buy a projector this time instead of an LCD/LED. I have the basement for it, and the white washed wall. Looking at Bestbuy’s site, I see a number of high end projectors for about 2k+ and many priced around 700-900…. odd? For the affordable range projectors, they seem to be more for business presentations… heres my question. If I want a DECENT picture, for an avid television enthusiast, would it be fine if I picked say something like a http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Epson+-+Multimedia+Projector/8993592.p?id=1218007081738&skuId=8993592 ? Need advice.. help!?!
Don’t buy the Epson EX100, it’s a business projector with only XGA (1024×768) resolution, you want 720p (1280×720) or 1080p (1920×1080).
If you have $1000 to spend, the choice is pretty simple, there are currently only two 1080p projectors at that price point. The Vivitek has slightly better specs, but the Optoma is also good:

I would buy from Visual Apex instead of Best Buy, they’re excellent to deal with, have the lowest price you’ll find on those projectors, and you can return the projector if it has less than 5 hours on the bulb.
Although you can use the wall, you might consider a screen package. A screen with a black border will make the image look much better, especially if your room is not completely dark.
