Hi, I just bought a brand new electric guitar, and I had a question about how I should store it. I live in a really dry place, but I am not sure if electric guitars are affected. Should I keep it in its hard shell case every night, or should i just leave it out. If i keep it in the case, it will be resting against a leather strap. Will that damage the body. Thanks!
If you are not going to play it for a while, loosen the strings 1/4 turn . If it is just overnight or for a few days, it will not harm it. I suggest putting a small bowl of water. If the room needs humidity, the wter will evaporate automatically and if it doesn’t need humidity, the bowl of water will not harm the instrument. It is a cheap way to control humidity inexpensively.
