Normally I think of myself as some what good with electronics, but all of a sudden my Sony Blu Ray player stopped feeding a signal to my TV, it’s black, but my TV shows it’s source as HDMI. The sound works through my receiver, but no picture. My TV works with my Satellite TV, but not my Blu Ray. I’ve tried connected all new cables and it still doesn’t work. I have an HDMI cable from my TV to my HDMI Out and the B/R/G cable from my TV to the Component Video Out. Then I have my DVD player connected by an HDMI cable also. Any help would be great!!
It sounds like you’ve done most of the troubleshooting. I would recommend trying the S500 directly into the TV via HDMI to eliminate any HDMI handshake issues between the blu-ray and the receiver, but since you’re getting audio and the TV is showing “HDMI”, it doesn’t sound like that’s the problem. Another thought is to use the HDMI jack that you know is working correctly for your DVD player, and plug your blu-ray into that jack just to rule out a problem with the HDMI connector on the receiver.
If none of that works, I’m thinking the S500 video processor has failed.
