Hi, we have a 7 year old 36″ Sony Trinitron Wega CRT tv and the “Video 1″ (or Video 2, Video 3, etc) stays up on the screen and we can’t seem to get rid of it – unfortunately, our 18 month old has hidden our TV remote.

Send the 18 month old to a hypnotherapist so he can remember the location of the remote. Anyway, i don’t know that the remote makes that disappear anyway. My brother had the same problem when his tv was in its last year. The “mute” line stayed on at all times.
I think you are done with this tv. Move it to the patio to serve out its final days. Also, click on every option in the menu to see if you get lucky. Maybe clicking some other function will overrule the Video1.
When i called to have my CRT 56 inch serviced, the servicemen all said that it would cost $500 and there would be no guarantee. I bought the last 51 inch CRT at Circuit City for $800 and love it.
