I’m purchasing my first electric guitar. Yes, its a Jackson Warrior JS30WR. It has a plain black finish…looks really neat and edgy. But, an artistic person like me cannot be satisfied w/a “black finish”. I really wanted to stencil designs onto the guitars body w/out ruining the finish. I wanted to make a real intricate, sophisticated design…but the question is…HOW? If anyone can show me the tips and tricks of stenciling and designing on a guitar body…It would truly be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The main way to do this all depends on what kind of stenciling you want to do. I’m guessing spray painting?
Get some sticky-sided paper, and leave the back of it on. Using a stenciling knife, cut out your pre-determined image. Slowly and carefully peel the backing off, then stick the image onto your jeans, this will pick up a little lint so its isn’t impossible to peel off, but also not so much as that it won’t stick. Now stick it onto where you want it on your guitar. Now cover the rest of the guitar with masking tape, using your jeans for some linting again, until you won’t end up spraying a square into your guitar where the paper ends. Spray paint and remove the paper when the paint is half-dry. BE CAREFUL!
Now cover the area in a spray-on gloss. This will protect the image and help it blend in with the guitar.
If you want to spray paint where the string are, unless you know how to remove the strings yourself, and how to replace them. Take it to a store to have them removed, don’t paint over them, as this can ruin your sound.
