I dont want a netbook as I want to use it for writing music in Sibelius, and for running presentation programs like Wondershare DVD Slideshow Builder.
I am leaning towards a Toshiba and think I need 4 GB of RAM. I dont really get all the other specs such as the ATI / Dual Core Centrino etc.
Do I need a good sound and graphics card? Any help much appreciated. I looks like I’ll have to spend between $1000 – $1500 AUD to get a good one.
I always though Macs were hard to use cause you need different software for them, and everything is set out differently.
Well ATI is a graphics company and “dual core centrino” is a laptop processor. Getting a video card (as opposed to integrated graphics, and don’t get confused, intel graphics controller is not a video card) is probably a good idea. Sound Card isn’t necessary. The money you save by cutting out a sound card should go towards a better processor. Some people say the sound card is important however integrated sound, to me is identical. As far as processor cores go, 2 are better than 1. Go with a speed of at least 2.0 ghz or better. There are all different models (centrino, atom, core 2 duo etc.) but to me they are all the same. Clock speed is what matters.
